The Research unit at Cape Town Tourism (CTT) is the centre for travel and tourism data and intelligence.

The research produced by the department measures industry performance, consumer and source market behaviour and perceptions. The monthly reports track visitor movement, key accommodation and attraction data as well as visitor information including spend, reason for visit and activities participated in. (Note: monthly reports are on hold since the impact of Covid-19 in March 2020) The delivery of forecasts, reports and insights informs the marketing and strategic planning decisions of CTT and the industry.

Since the significant impact of Covid-19 on the industry there has been a notable demand for data that speaks to the impact on industry and consumers. As the regulations change, data is more important than ever to help us all adapt to this ever-changing environment. Covid-19 intelligence is available here (link to the Covid-19 data page).
